Gorillapod Magnetic: Gorillapods Get Some Magnet Feet

I don’t think I am exaggerating when I say that the Gorillapod is one of the most awesome (if not the most awesome) small-form tripods on the market. Well guess what? It just got better.

From the manufacturer:

The Gorillapod Magnetic is the latest addition to Joby’s popular Gorillapod family, which features a host of positioning and stabilization products to extend one’s creative photographic capabilities. With the 2006 launch of its first product, the Gorillapod original flexible tripod, Joby revolutionized the camera accessories market. Now the Gorillapod is available in four sizes to support a full range of photographic equipment, from point-and-shoots and mini video cameras to rigs weighing up to 11.1lbs! Joby has also launched a complete line of Gorillapod accessories to enhance the line’s versatility. Examples include the Ballhead for SLR-Zoom, which allows one to fluidly pan and tilt a camera while it is stabilized by a Gorillapod, and the Flash Clip, which allows one to use the Gorillapod SLR to support an off-camera flash. And Joby’s popular Gorillamobile™ line of products extends the hands-free functionality to a range of other mobile devices, including iPhones and iPods.

The Gorillapod Magnetic supports compact digital cameras and mini video cameras weighing up to 11.5oz, weighs just 2.5 ounces, is 6-inches tall, and has an MSRP of $24.95. US retailers include REI and amazon.com.

11.1 lbs is a lot of camera, but you might want to test your Gorillapod Magnetic’s holding powers out carefully at first if the weight of your rig is close to that limit.
