Top ten tech things you need to pack for college 2010
College is starting soon and you will soon be feeling that familiar feeling like you have forgotten something important. And the truth is that you probably have. No worries, we are here to help. Here are ten tech items that you cannot live without while on camps.
1. A good USB drive
You'll need a good place to save your information. I love the space, the speedy transfer rate, and the overall design of this usb drive. It comes in handy that I can always have it with me on my set of keys and its very sturdy while sitting in my laptops usb port despite the number of keys that I have on there. Very good price and a very good deal!
2. A good fan
Trust me you will need a good fan. Be prepared for a hot smoldering day or your roommates poor hygine. The Lasko 2530 40-Inch Elite Wind Tower Fan is the best fan out there and it has a remote control! It's worth checking out.
3. A trusty backpack
The core of OGIO's street pack lineup offers padded side-entry laptop sleeve, dedicated accessory storage, and a fleece-lined audio pocket. Behind its distinctive quilted half-moon pocket is additional fleece-lined storage for a mouse, power cord, and other tech gear.
4. A basic black and white laser printer
Skip the all-in-one printers and get a personal black-and-white laser printer. Why? Honestly, when are you going to print something in color? When are you going to copy or scan something? The VAST majority of your paper needs are going to be either printing out your papers for turn-in or printing out dozens of pages for highlighting in a literature class or something. The Brother HL-2140 is one of the best and most reliable personal printers.
5. Skip the Ipod Dock and just get an alarm clock
You don't need a special iPod dock. Nobody really wants to hear your pretentious indie crap anyway. Save your roommate and just get an alarm clock.
6. Quality Headphones or earbuds
There is nothing worse then having a crap earphones. You want something that cancels noise, can handle base, and wont breakdown halfway through the semester. These headphones really deliver! Superior sound quality that simply can't be matched with any of those wimpy ear buds I've tried. The noise cancellation is icing on the cake - great for tuning out unwanted racket.
7. A Mini-Fridge
Some dorms come with them some don't. Be sure you know before you go.
8. Heck, bring your own kitchen
Avoid the freshman 15 and dodge the cafeteria. This mini-kitchen can cook a turkey and all the fixins right in your dorm. It's easy to use and doesn't take up too much space.
9. Wii Fit
The gym might have all sorts of great stuff, but let´s be honest, you're not gonna set foot in that place. Mixing workouts with videogames, however, is a different story entirely. Wii Fit's balance board has dual sensors that detect motion and weight.
10. One word...Netbook
Although it may seem hip to be on the Apple bandwagon, it isn't practical. Most homework software isn't compatible with a Mac. You should also avoid something big that you have to lug out in every class. The keyword for campus life is: compact. Internet use and ultra portability. Count on an HP Mini 210 for all that you need this year.
I think I covered all of the important stuff. Let me know what you think. Good luck!
