Which Has the Most Accurate Touch Screen?
Quick fact: out of the iPhone, HTC Droid Eris, Motorola Droid, and the Google Nexus One, the first has the most accurate touch screen. In terms of sensitivity coverage (or how much up to the edge of the screen the phone responds to touch input), the Nexus One wins.
That’s according to a “Touchscreen Stress Test” by MOTO. It’s not as complicated as it sounds; all the team did was install a drawing program, and trace a pre-determined criss-cross pattern on the screen with a finger, at different pressures.
Accuracy was determined by how straight the resulting lines are. Not sure what steps MOTO took to keep the finger-pressing and -tracing accurate across testing rounds. The results are more interesting when you can see them for yourself:
The point of this test? MOTO was simply making a design statement to manufacturers, which can be summarized as: “make sure you take the time and money to develop your touch interface, because your customers will know when you’ve tried to scrimp on the design process.”
